Vernon McGee rightly distinguished between the religious City of Rome described in Revelation 17 and the rebuilt commercial City of Babylon described in Revelation 18.  Rome is to be destroyed by the Ten Kings that give their political power to the Risen Papal Caesar turned Antichrist/Man-Beast after the first three and one-half years of the impending 70th Week of Years (Daniel 9:27) has transpired.  The commercial City of Babylon is to be destroyed by the risen Lord Jesus Christ just prior to His Second Coming, three and one-half years after Rome has been destroyed.  Your editor covers this crucial topic, naming four corroborating sources, in Chapter 50 of his Vatican Assassins III.
